Here is a link to a very good article but it is outdated and I disagree
with a few things he has stated.

Fort Sage Special Recreation Management Area
I disagree that the average rider could not possible ride all the trails in the area in a few hours. The riding area is very large. The actual park may be small at only 22,000 acres but you also have all the trails down in the valley behind the mountain. If you looked at my pictures you see where I marked the dry lake bed. It is a pretty good ride to get from the campground over the hill and down in to the valley to the dry lake bed. As you can see from my pictures the dry lake bed is pretty good size and from my picture on the ridge it is a good distance out in the valley. You can actually ride past the dry lake bed to the base of the other mountains. I was there two days and never really road on the North side of our campground. It would take the beginner to average rider a 2 to 3 days to ride all the trails available. As you can also see from my pictures we camped overnight as well as a few other groups. I think Michael Mansfield did not much time to explore the whole area. I went with a co-worker who knows the whole area very well and it helped. If you like the is type of riding I would highly recommend you spend at least a couple of days. I cannot wait to do it again. From Sacramento to Fort Sage at 60 mph non stop it is 3 hours 15 minutes approx.
